About this activity
Natural Features: Mirror Lake is situated at the base of the
11,943-foot Bald Mountain. The campground lies among a forest of white fir
trees, which provides partial shade. Colorful summer wildflowers dot the
landscape. Summer temperatures range from 65-75 degrees during the day to 40-50
degrees at night. with the Black forks ghost town, this is one of the
best-preserved ghost towns it started as a mountain man trading post then
became a logging town This ghost town is rather interesting. It just pops up on
the west side of Elizabeth Mtn. Road right after the actual fork in the river.
Founded in the 1870s, Black's Fork was populated until its abandonment sometime
around the 1930s. In its half-century of operation, Black's Fork reached a
population of nearly 100 citizens. Black's Fork was originally founded as a
logging town to supply lumber to the local railroad and mining industries. This
is a one-day trip with a lunch.
