Yellowstone and Grand Teton - 5 Day Subaru Outback Rooftop Camping Tour

5 days
About this activity
What to Expect
First, remember this is a camping trip. For people who love camping you will be outside every day exploring nature and sleeping under the stars. You won't be in a hotel and although there is a shower tent (water bag hanging above you) the only running water are the tiny showers in the campground. Again, when you sign up for a camping trip you're signing up for an adventure.
Also, you will be traveling through high elevations, so move slowly the first couple days and drink lots of water. During the summer the temperature gets over 100 F / 38 C degrees every day. In the spring and fall the days are warm but the nights can be very cold. Dress appropriately, bring sunblock!
Day 1:
Pickup at our office location in Salt Lake City near the Salt Lake International Airport. Go over gear usage, safety tips, and trip itinerary breakdown. Then, get in your Subaru Camper and head north where you'll get a taste of the wilderness by driving to and exploring Grand Teton National Park. Huge mountains, crystal lakes, and alpine forests.
Then head to camp early and practice using the equipment and having a family dinner under the stars.
Day 2:
After the long drive on Day 1 you will have more opportunities to explore Grand Teton. We will have several options for you depending on the time of year and your interests. From mountain hikes, to playing in the lakes, to mountain biking, to historical landmarks. Its just a beautiful place to camp with your family and friends.
Day 3:
Start bright and early and head up to the amazing Yellowstone National Park! There is too much to do in two days but we'll try. You'll see tons of wild animals, geysers and hot springs, waterfalls and cliffs. Plus the park offers very unique tourist experiences where you'll learn more about the landscape and the animals. The driving, sight seeing, and walking will take up your entire day.
Day 4:
The focus of today will be exploring more canyons and waterfalls. There are short walks and even long mountain-top hikes available, depending on your interests and fitness level. Or, you could camp and bbq all day long at a beautiful Yellowstone campsite.
Day 5:
After all of this walking and hiking its time to recuperate the body. Enjoy the last morning at the campsite, then drive to Jackson Hole for some food and gas. Afterwards, head south and stop at a Hot Spring Spa to recover and soak in the hot water and the incredible experiences of the week.
It is possible to extend the trip, please contact us at awdrentals(.)com for more information.
