Zion and the Mighty South - 5 Day Subaru Outback Rooftop Camping Tour

About this activity
What to Expect
First, remember this is a camping trip. For people who love camping you will be outside every day exploring nature and sleeping under the stars. You won't be in a hotel and although there is a shower tent (water bag hanging above you) the only running water are the tiny showers in the campground. Again, when you sign up for a camping trip you're signing up for an adventure.
Also, you will be traveling through high elevations, so move slowly the first couple days and drink lots of water. During the summer the temperature gets over 100 F / 38 C degrees every day. Dress appropriately and bring lots of sun block!
Day 1:
Pickup at our office location in Salt Lake City near the Salt Lake International Airport. Go over gear usage, safety tips, and trip itinerary breakdown. Then, get in your Subaru Outback Camper and head south where you'll get immersed in the incredible scenery by driving/hiking past cliffs, arches, and domes. There are different hikes available based on fitness level.
Then head to camp early and practice using the equipment and having a family dinner under the stars.
Day 2:
Day 2 will send you deep into the heart of Grand Staircase Escalante, a massive and beautiful park. This day is about incredible desert drives and the amazing slot canyons. Some are short, some are long, and with all the options you can tailor it to fit your physical needs.
In the heat of the summer the day will end on the northern edge of Lake Powell, where you can camp and swim and refresh after a long day in the sun.
Day 3:
After two days of desert exploring this day is about sight seeing and taking in awe-inspiring vistas. There are plenty of activities at today's destination, but the main focus will be taking pictures and soaking it all in.
You'll start early and drive to see two amazing national monuments, Bryce Canyon and Cedar Bluffs. You'll finish the day by heading to the campsite near Zion National Park.
Day 4:
You could spend WEEKS exploring Zion National Park. In two days we'll send you the best spots we can. There is a massive variety of trail and sight seeing spots. You can take an easy stroll along a river and narrow canyons, or hike up to vertigo-inducing overlooks, while all around are red rock cliffs. If you're in great physical shape there are long exploratory hikes that take most of the day. There are also jeep roads to drive and explore.
Day 5:
After breakfast you could continue in Zion, or head to a nearby reservoir to swim and relax before the long drive back to Salt Lake City. If its cool weather there are hot springs to stop at on the way.
After lunch, drive back to Salt Lake City for vehicle return and equipment inspection.

- The listed price does not include a $1000 per-vehicle Security Depoist Surcharge: $1000 Security Deposit, payable with Credit Card upon arrival. The security deposit surcharge is required by our local supplier and is not within our control. Upon return the vehicle and equipment will be checked for damage. If the vehicle and equipment are in good condition and the fuel tank is full then we issue a full refund.
- Ground tent for extra space: for a car full of adults the rooftop tent can't fit everyone, so a ground tent is needed.

- Not recommended for travelers with back problems
- A maximum of 5 people per booking: the rooftop tent can accommodate two adults and two children. If there are more than two adults you will be required to purchase the Additional Ground Tent
- A significant amount of walking and hiking is involved
- All passenger weights MUST be advised at time of booking. Ground tents will be provided for customers who exceed rooftop weight limits.
- This experience requires good weather. If it’s canceled due to poor weather, you’ll be offered a different date or a full refund
