Eagles Nest Half Day Tour from Salzburg

Join us on this spectacular half day excursion to the Eagle’s Nest. Passing the old baroque city of Salzburg and crossing the German border, the tour takes you straight into the Alps to our first stop the Obersalzberg. The road to Obersalzberg is a masterpiece of engineering. It was build in only 13 months and it is unique in the world. It was blasted into the solid rock and you pass the altitude difference of 800 meters in only one hairpin bend. In 1952 the road was closed to normal traffic and only reserved special busses – fitted with special engines and brakes – will take you on a most spectacular 6.5 km with a 22% gradient up to the Eagle's Nest, 1.820 meters. To reach Hitler’s former residence you enter a 124 meters long tunnel into the mountain where a golden brass elevator will take you another 124 meters up - in only 41 seconds - into the building itself. After touring the historic building including the famous fireplace room, enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the Bavarian and Austrian Alps. Discover the alpine fauna and flora and walk to the summit cross nearby. Before returning to Salzburg, you have the opportunity to explore the picturesque little town of Berchtesgaden.
