Stop At: Basilika St. Michael, Kirchengasse 1, Mondsee 5310 Austria

After your Salzburg hotel pickup (or any other location in Salzburg), your journey will take you straight to Mondsee with the Sound of Music Wedding Church as highlight. After the visit of St. Michael Church of Mondsee where Robert Wise was filming the wedding szene for the world famous movie Sound of Music, you’ll continue to Lake Wolfgang.

Stop At: St Gilgen Mozartplatz, Mozartplatz, St Gilgen Austria

The next highlight is Wolfgang Lake and the villages St. Gilgen and St. Wolfgang. Capture a picture of St. Wolfgang from a great view point before arriving at the next town, in Bad Ischl. The drive will take you through Bad Ischl, which is famous for the “Kaiser” (Emperor) Villa and the Café Zauner, and on to Bad Goisern and Hallstatt.

Enjoy your ride with funicular to the Skywalk Viewing platform. The Skywalk hovers 350 meters (1150 ft) above the roofs of Hallstatt which offers an extraordinary panoramic view over Hallstatt with lake and the extensive mountain scenery. From there it is about 20 minutes on a good trail to the Salt Mine entrance.

Returning from the oldest Salt Mine of the World it is time to explore the historical old town center of Hallstatt before returning back to Salzburg via Gosau and Salzburg.
