Lakes and Mountains Highlights Private Tour from Salzburg

Your journey continues on scenic roads along Lake Mondsee to Lake Attersee. At the lake village Unterrach you’ll get a picturesque view over the lake. Unterach, sometimes referred to as "Little Venice" in the 19th century, is situated at the southern end of Lake Attersee. Gustav Klimt painted two very famous pictures here, the church of Unterach and the village Unterach with Lake Attersee. These paintings were accomplished from the other side of the lake, from the little village of Weissenbach. Klimt zoomed the depicted area with binoculars. Right at this meadow you will get your next great photo opportunity. Get another stunning photo of the village Unterach and maybe zoom in Unterach Church like Gustav Klimt did with his paintings. It was right here in Weissenbach where Gustav Klimt lived in a forester’s house in the summer months between 1914 to 1916. From Weissenbach the journey continues on scenic backroads to Bad Ischl.

The emperor Franz Josef was staying in this beautiful town, every summer for more than 6 decades. Visit the Imperial Villa, the Sissy park which is a recreational area of the locals and finally stroll through the historical town center of Bad Ischl. Bad Ischl was already a well-liked holiday destination for many celebrities like Johann Strauss, Franz Lehar who had a Villa there, King of Siam, Charley Watts from the Rolling Stones, Nestroy and many more.

After the stop in Bad Ischl there are still two highlights waiting for you, one is the lake side village St. Wolfgang followed by a boat ride from St. Wolfgang to St. Gilgen. Experience the beautiful town center of St. Wolfgang before taking the boat to St. Gilgen, where you will meet your guide to continue your travel back to Salzburg.
