About this activity
Lying at the northern boundary of the Alps, the city of Salzburg is among the oldest and most significant spiritual and cultural centers of Austria.

Salzburg′s long history can be traced back as far as to Neolithic times. The first settlements by Celtic communities became known as Juvavum, after the Romans captured it in 15 BC. Once the Roman Empire came to decay, Iuvavum was abandoned and fell into ruins.

During the 7th century the monastery of St Peter was founded becoming one of the wealthiest churches due to large donations of the Bavarian dukes. The St Peter's restaurant in the abbey of St Peter, first mentioned in 803, is still running nowadays.

Later on the Prince-Archbishops Wolf Dietrich, Markus Sittikus and Paris Lodron realized their major building programs leaving their architectural imprints. With more than hundred churches, castles and palaces Salzburg’s cityscape bears witness to the power of the Salzburg archbishops. Listed as World Heritage Site by UNSECO, Salzburg managed to preserve this extraordinarily rich urban fabric from the Middle Ages to the 19th century.

On your private tour you will be thrilled by this gorgeous Baroque city surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Follow the footprints of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, learn more about the historical background and enjoy a city rich in culture, architecture and natural beauty.

Yet there is another historical event in Salzburg most important to the World – in 1492 the same year Columbus discovered America, the Stiegl brewery was founded in Salzburg. This most unique one hour tour through Austria’s oldest private brewery gives you detailed insight in the art of beer making. Three samples of beer and a small giveaway the Stiegl Brauwelt is known as a paradise for all beer lovers.
