Los Haitises National Park and Cayo Levantado Island Day Trip from Samana

Once arriving at Los Haitises Park, explore the pictograph caves and mangroves swamp. These caves are where you can view drawings on the walls from some of the original Taino Indians that were wiped out by the Spanish. The caves on this tour alone are worth seeing because they are very large and carry a unique history. The next stop is at the dock at the mouth of a larger cave with some spectacular photo ops. Next, it is on to a number of small islands that make up the bird sanctuary part of the park. Many species of birds use this protected area to raise their young. Walk from one end of the cave out the other side where the boat will be waiting at another dock to pick the group up. Once safely back in the boat, the tour will make its way to the famous Cayo Levantado (or Bacardi Island as some know it due to the famous Bacardi comercial shot here in the 80's), for the afternoon and enjoy a buffet lunch soon after.
Please be aware that this tour takes place on the open waters of Samana Bay. You will be in a catamaran hull boat with a small roof over part of it. Be aware of the sea conditions or any adverse effects of sea sickness that people in the group may encounter. Conditions may be rough.
