Nahuel Huapi National Park covers 705,000 hectares in the southwest of Neuquén province and northwest of Río Negro province. It was created in 1934 with the aim of preserving a representative area of the northern Andean region of Patagonia.
Tourist activity in the region starts from the creation of this natural reserve.
In its territory there are numerous lakes. The most notable is the Nahuel Huapi. Other lakes of lesser extent are Traful, Espejo and Villarino in the north, Gutierrez, Mascardi, Guillelmo and Steffen in the south.

Villa Traful is a tourist village, located in the department of Los Lagos, on the south coast of Lake Traful, in the south of the province of Neuquén, in the Argentine Patagonia. It is located 400 km from the City of Neuquén. Villa Traful is within the Nahuel Huapi National Park. Where the Submerged Forest is also located.

The lagoon is surrounded by exuberant vegetation that is what is known as Selva Triste. Here you will find species such as: cypresses, coihues, myrtles, radales and more difficult species to see.
With a depth of 5.50 m, the lagoon was formed due to the rains that averaged between 2,000 and 2,500 mm in the year. The excess water in the lagoon is compensated for by evaporation, filtrations from the soil and through a small stream that flows into the Nahuel Huapi lake. The trail takes about 2 or 3 hours. You can guide yourself without any inconvenience because there are signposts that allow you to make a self-guided circuit, the signs are indicating the species to which some specimens belong.
It is also possible to observe some species of ducks on the water such as: Macá de Pico Grueso, Pato Zambullidor, Pato Barcino, Gallareta de Ligas Rojas (this species is a permanent inhabitant), Cauquen de Cabeza Gris, Bandurrias, etc. Occasionally, specimens of Black-necked Swan can be observed.

El Correntoso is a lake located within the Nahuel Huapi National Park, in the city of Villa La Angostura, Los Lagos department in the province of Neuquén (Argentina).
The mirror of water that forms this lake, of a blue-green color, has approximately 27 km², is framed in a mountainous chain of spectacular beauty and has waters with a higher temperature than the Nahuel Huapi.

Arrive at Arroyo Verde in time for a welcome drink and lunch. Starting out on the first afternoon, an easy ride to allow guests to familiarize themselves with their horses and the different tack used. Your English speaking guides are experienced trail riders.

A full day ride to "Las Mellizas", twin lakes situated in the mountains, approximately a three and a half hour ride from the house. The route follows the Arroyo Verde stream over rocks and through trees climbing higher and higher until reaching the source in the Green Lake, one of the twins. Some Indian rock paintings can be seen on this ride. A picnic lunch and a well earned rest for all, including the horses. Weather permitting swimming in the lake can be very enjoyable or just sit and admire the view. The journey back takes a different path along the side of Lake Traful and through a native forest of Coihue (Nothofagus dombeyi) some specimens are over 40mts high.

Day 3 - Leaving fairly early in the morning another three and half hour ride to a view point called "Cerro Frutilla" overlooking Lake Traful and surrounding area with breathtaking views on both the way up and down. Arrive at the cabin on the lake for lunch, relax on the deck and enjoy a "pisco sour" (local cocktail). After lunch and a little "siesta" a pleasant ride down the river and thru the valley. There are several species of birdlife to be seen such as the Kingfisher, Patagonian geese, plovers and cara-caras.

Day 4: A full day ride to "Los Condores", a nesting site of the famous Andean condor. A three and half hour ride up the mountain takes us to a superb vantage point where hopefully we can see the big birds. Lunch in a shady glade a short ride away with a chance to rest up and appreciate Patagonian scenery. The wonderful panoramic views on the way back down, three hour ride make the trip one of our most popular. Only for advanced/experienced riders.
