Pass By: Tourist Information San Carlos de Bariloche, San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, Argentina

Early in the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel in the centre of Bariloche and head towards Guttierrez and Mascardi Lakes. Driving along their shores, we will then take a dirt road to get to Cerro Tronador, where the journey really will start.

Stop At: Museo del Lago Gutierrez, Calle Mnto Nac Bosque Petrificado 367 El Museo se encuentra a 100 metros del Lago Gutiérrez por la calle principal., San Carlos de Bariloche R8405APA Argentina

Cross the Pampo de Huenuleo and along the rippling creeks of Melgarejo and Pilmayen until you reach Lake Gutierrez. Stop to snap photos and stretch your legs at a lodge and private beach on the shores of this unspoiled body of water.

Duration: 30 minutes

Stop At: Ventisquero Negro, Tronador, San Carlos de Bariloche, Río Negro, Argentina

Climb back on the coach and continue along Mascardi Lake and across the popular white-water rafting destination, the Manso River. Stop in Pampa Linda, in the shadow of Cerrro Tronador, for lunch (own expense). Continue your coach journey through a forest of native lenga and coihue trees in the Vuriloches Valley until you reach the Ventisquero Negro (Black Snowdrift) glacier.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Cerro Tronador, San Carlos de Bariloche Argentina

Ride the coach a bit further to reach Cerro Tronador, the tallest mountain in the Lake District at 11,500 feet (3,500 meters). Home to seven glaciers, it was so named for the thunderous sound that ice chunks frequently make falling from the glaciers' faces. View Cerro Tronador's three peaks — Pico Chileno, Pico Argentino and Pico Internacional — while taking a short walk into the woods with your guide to view the glaciers.

Duration: 2 hours

This is a great tour four for seeing the National Park. I was the only English speaking person on the tour and the guide had me sit behind him, so that after the Spanish commentary I was given the English one. The guide was very knowledgeable about the area and made sure everyone was looked after.

We really enjoyed this tour. We were the only English speaking people but the guide handled this well by sitting us up front so that he could explain everything to us separately by not using the microphone. Along the way, we stopped for some nice photo opportunities, as well as lunch, all while learning about the regional animals and plant/tree life. Upon arriving at the feature presentation of the glacier, we were given time to wander around and the guide showed us to the nearby waterfalls. He was knowledgable in regards to the glacier and the surrounding mountain peaks. Once we left the glacier, the driver got us back to town as soon as possible, all while listening to some nice music. Speaking of the driver, he was very courteous as well. We even coincidentally saw him around town the next few days and he came up to tell us hello and wish us well!

Because of the local agent's coinfusion of dates, the trip never happened

The tour and the stop over at San Martin is highly enjoyable. It was like a family excursion.
