About this activity
Pick up in your hotel at San Cristobal de las Casas early morning. Transfer to Montebello Lagoons (131 km. approx. 2-hrs. drive). That place is quite spectacular.
The visit is done in two ways, the first leading to the grounds of the National Park itself, where the Emerald Lakes, La Encantada, Blue Forest, Daydream and Agua Tinta are surrounded by pine forests . Alongside them there are some services and also the possibility of excursions to San Rafael, a natural arch of 40 meters over a sink, where the small stream known as Paso del Soldado is immersed.
The other way leads to the lakes that coordinates community, Canada, Pojoj, Tziscao and Dos Lagunas, among others. Tziscao Lake is one of the largest and deepest -45 m- and is already on the Guatemalan border. On shore there is a Chuj village. There are shelters, soup kitchens and rafts. This is where the tour end, you may want to continue your journey into Guatemala if you wish do so do.
