Itinerary

Stop At: Historic Centre of San Gimignano, Piazza del Duomo 2, 53037, San Gimignano Italy

A certified English-speaking driver will pick you up at your hotel on board a comfortable van and will accompany you to San Gimignano, the first stop on this tour. Walking through the quaint city lanes, you will immerse yourself in the atmosphere of this 14th century village. Indeed, its appearance has mostly remained intact and thanks to its well preserved medieval architecture, it is considered one of the finest examples of Italian medieval city. San Gimignano is mostly known for the spectacular towers that dominate the landscape, each with its own story to tell. They were built around the 14th century by the most influential city families, whose purpose was to raise the highest tower to show off their power. We recommend visiting Casa Campatelli, one of 14 remaining towers that has kept its original volume.

Duration: 1 hour 30 minutes

Pass By: Cathedral of Volterra (Duomo), Piazza San Giovanni, Volterra Italy

After the tour of San Gimignano you will visit a local farm, where you’ll be able to enjoy the tasting of excellent wines accompanied by a light lunch, in a familiar authentic environment. The tour will then continue along the wonderful scenic road that winds through some of the most uncontaminated landscapes of Tuscany all the way to Volterra, an unmistakably medieval town where it is still possible to breathe in the atmosphere of an ancient village. You can take a stroll through the streets of the historic centre surrounded by the 13th century walls, enjoying the scenic views and the many artistic testimonies. You may also visit the Etruscan museum (if open) and learn the secrets of the alabaster craftsmanship in some of the typical artisan shops. After the tour of Volterra, your driver will take you back to the hotel.
