About this activity
Start your day with a filling breakfast before your guide greets you 7:30am at your hotel/resort in San Ignacio Town and after a few minutes drive to San Jose Succotz you will arrive at Actun Chapat's grounds and start your hike to Actun Chapat's secretive portal to the underworld. You will be climbing and sliding through parts of the cave. You will see interesting formations and life forms in this mysterious and unique cave, as well as ancient mayan modifications to the cave formations used for their powerful religious and ceremonial rituals in the underworld.
After an exciting and thrilling tour of the cave you will be more than eager to change off and satisfy your appetite with a warm and delicious meal before heading to the Majestic site of Xunantunich. Once at Xunantunich you will be hiking the ancient Maya grounds and climbing the impressive El Castillo and other structures where you will be more than happy to spend a few minutes enjoying the panoramic view of the countryside as well as taking some great shots of Xunantunich..
Tour is approximately 8 - 10 hours depending on your pace
Your tour will end with a drop off to your hotel/resort in San Ignacio town or any other point as previously arranged with local provider.

- Not recommended for: infants, pregnant females, seniors unable to comfortably hike at least 3 miles & manoeuvre/climb through the cave, persons with back problems, heart conditions or any other serious medical conditions, persons with claustrophobia
- Lunch is scheduled to be at a restaurant but local provider reserves the right to change lunch to a PACKED LUNCH (you will be informed) whenever there is, but not limited to, a special dietary need for any of the participants involved, and or considered the best option.
- All participants must provide name of hotel/resort to facilitate information/update to last minute changes to tour due but not limited to local weather, especially during the local rainy season (JUNE to end of NOVEMBER)
- Please contact us (stleonardsbze@gmail.com) if any adult travelling with an infant(s) wishes to do this tour and may need to hire a baby sitter to come along for the cave part of the tour.
- MINIMUN of 2 persons per tour is a must
- Every participant MUST bring a complete change of clothes, his/her own gloves if required for cave exploration or any other special item he/she wishes to use in the cave or during the entire day tour.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 8 travelers
