Caracol Mayan Ruins Day Tour

The largest Mayan center in Belize was known as Caracol. Located deep beyond the Mountain Pine Ridge forest reserve in the Chiquibul rainforest, Caracol is a 2 hour drive to reach, but well worth the trip. This well excavated site includes many massive temples that can be climbed on and explored, offering stunning panoramic views of the surrounding rain-forest. This site is still being actively restored, and many archaeologists continue to work here today. There are also lots of opportunities to view flora and fauna in the area. Every trip to Caracol includes an optional stop at the surrounding attraction areas of Mountain Pine Ridge including swimming at the Río Frío On Pools, viewing of a beautiful nearby waterfall, and exploration of the large Río Frío Cave.
