About this activity
Meet your guide and the rest of your small group at the central departure point to in San Ignacio Town to start the day at 8:30am. From there, you'll ride in an air-conditioned minivan to Xunantunich, an archeological site about an hour away that sustained around 7,000 to 10,000 people during its heyday. The site is composed of six major plazas surrounded by more than 25 temples and palaces. After you explore the ruins, you'll have a picnic lunch before you walk to the kayak-launch point on the Mopan River. Gear is provided for you, so just clip on your helmet, grab a life vest and paddles, and hop into your kayak to begin your journey down the river.

Relax on the easy-flowing water until you come to the adrenaline-filled class one rapids. Have fun riding down the rapids as you try to stay on top of your kayak! A guide will accompany you as you travel through the waters to keep your journey safe yet fun. After floating through the a few local villages, the river will lead you into the jungle, where you will learn about the local flora and fauna. Once your watery journey comes to an end, you'll be transported back to your original departure point in San Ignacio.
