Geisers del Tatio and Pueblo de Machuca Tour from San Pedro de Atacama

Geothermic field located at 90 kilometers of San Pedro de Atacama and at 4,320m above sea level. We start our trip at 04:30 am to get to the place at dawn, time in which this geothermic field appears with all its force and greatness. We will enjoy of this amazing scenery. Big steam columns, which reach 20m of height. After this wonderful spectacle, we are going to move to the thermal pools which waters don't exceed 40°C. This is the best place to take a pleasant bath.

Departure from your hotel, between 04:30 hrs. and 05:30 Hrs. It returns 12:30 a.m.

We head northeast, climbing the hills and mountains of the Cordillera de los Andes, to reach the Geysers of the Tatio after approximately 1.5 hours of travel. Located about 90 km from San Pedro de Atacama, and at 4,230 meters above sea level, this geothermal field composed of more than 80 active geysers of different magnitudes, must be visited early in the morning because they manifest with greater intensity at dawn, when the temperature is very high. low, the difference between the boiling water and the atmospheric temperature allows the condensation of the vapor. In summer the temperature can be around -6ºC and in winter -20ºC. Arrival at this reserve, time to visit the various geysers and columns of steam, and bath in the thermal pool. Breakfast with a view to the geothermal field and back passing the wetlands of Putana, where tourists can appreciate and take photos of Flora and Fauna, abundant in that place, we continue towards the village of Machuca. 12.30 hrs return to San Pedro.
