1 day
About this activity
The morning starts off by picking you and your guests up from your Resort and take the 7 am flight to Belize City. Once in Belize, we drive thru the principal streets of Belize City to the picturesque countryside as your guide introduces you to the tour you and talks about Belizean history. Altun Ha "Whitestone under water", is accessible from the Old Northern Highway. You will learn about the great achievements of the Mayanas and their survivial over one thousand years. The tour of Altun Ha takes one hour 30minutes. We then drive 45mins from Altun Ha to the Baboon Sanctuary, while travelling along the narrow Boom road, you can spot the monkeys in the trees. Upon arriving at our final destination, we'll gear up to hike some trails where we will be viewing the monkeys in the trees in their own habitats. The Black Howler Monkey Sanctuary is a conservation effort bringing together 8 villages to protect the habitat of Belize's Black Howler Monkey, affectionately called "baboons" by the locals. The sanctuary consists of approximately 20 square miles along the Belize River and embodies a combination of dense jungle, pasture, farmland, and small village life. Once completed the tour we will be back in San Pedro at approx. 4pm.
