Archaeology Tour + Boqueron

Get ready for a spectacular mix of sightseeing! Start with a visit to the imposing San Salvador Volcano and the crater known as Boqueron (approx 25 km from San Salvador). This volcano has a height of 1893 meters above sea level and has a unique high altitude tropical climate. The crater measures 1.5 km in diameter and it has 560 meters in depth. Enjoy a refreshing eco-walk along the natural trails of this incredible place. Then we will visit the “Pompeii of America”, the archaeological site Joya de Ceren, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1993. The archaeological site of Joya de Ceren was buried by the Loma Caldera volcano explosion. This explosion preserved the remains of pre-Hispanic civilization for hundreds of years, thus giving us an incredible look into what daily life was for the natives here.
