San Sebastian: Añana Salt Valley and Vitoria

The Añana Salt Valley, located in Alava is one of the most spectacular and best preserved cultural landscapes in Europe. In this salt landscape located in Salinas de Añana (Álava -Basque Country), 30 km from Vitoria- Gasteiz, man has taken advantage of the saltsprings for thousands of years to obtain a product that is essential to life, salt. A magnificent outdoor cultural landscape formed over more than 5,000 eras: platforms on which the brine, saltwater, is poured to obtain salt through solar evaporation. In the afternoon, you will meet in Vitoria, a city that offers endless possibilities. A city cooked with the best ingredients and the best quality. We will go to the Gothic style Cathedral of Santa Maria, it is situated in the highest part of the hill on which the primitive village of “Gasteiz” settled. Internationally known for being the inspiration of Ken Follett to give continuity to “The Pillars of the Earth”. A guided tour of this architectural gem is included.
