Trekking Day Tour through old road in Candelaria from Tenerife

Enjoy this fantastic chance to enjoy an incredible six-hour trekking route along the Old Candelaria road. This road has been declared Heritage of Cultural Interest with the category historic site; it is the ancient route between the town center of San Cristóbal de La Laguna and Plaza de la Patrona de Canarias in the Marial Villa of Candelaria. During the 15th century, it was a pilgrimage route associated to the Virgin of Candelaria and her sanctuary. It is now a route of great historical and ethnographic value.

The pick-up location for this tour is in front of the Plaza de la Villa de Teror park at 9:30am. From there, you will be taken to the starting point of the route. You will start the tour from Plaza de Barranco Hondo (the last 8 kilometers of the Royal Road). The route is mostly linear and of moderate difficulty, with a route of sections in which you will appreciate the original cobblestone of this road which is over 5 centuries old. You will discover the remains of the Pasacola farmhouse and enjoy the beautiful picture of the village of La Jiménez, the sacred cave of the Guanches de Añaco and the well of watering hole "Pozo de La Virgen" until you reach the house of the Virgin Morena. The route ends with a visit to a family winery in Candelaria, where you will have the pleasure of tasting local wine.
