Itinerary

Day 1: Airport pick-up and Santa Marta city tour

Stop At: Centro Historico de Santa Marta, Calle 22 Av.del Ferrocarril, Santa Marta Colombia
Our driver will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel, in order for you to get checked-in. Then, you can either go on a city tour with our driver and a professional guide or just rest and relax in your hotel and later at night go to one of our selected restaurants with our private English-speaking chauffeur.

Day 2: Cabo San Juan del Guía (Tayrona National Park)

Stop At: Cabo San Juan Del Guia, Tayrona National Park Colombia
At 08:00 AM, our driver and the professional English-speaking guide will be waiting for you at your hotel front desk in order to take you to Tayrona National Park entrance called "El Zaino". Here you will start your hiking to Cabo San Juan Beach, another iconic and unique beach located inside Tayrona Park. Enjoy hiking while observing the enriched and diverse flora and fauna protected by Tayrona Park mountains. Discover a wide variety of animal, bird and plant species on the way to Cabo San Juan beach. Here, you can practice snorkeling (not included), swim or take a sunbathe and relax while the Caribbean sea and the mountains of the Sierra Nevada stare at you.

Day 3: Private transfer from Santa Marta to Mompox (walking tour after arrival)

Stop At: Centro Historico de Santa Cruz de Mompox, Mompox, Mompos 132560 Colombia
On this day, our English-speaking chauffeur will pick you up at 7:30 AM, and then he will head to Mompos. It will take you approximately 5 hours to arrive there. On the way, enjoy the different Colombian urban and rural landscapes. Once you get there, our driver will take you to our selected restaurant where you will have lunch. Afterward, enjoy a walking tour around the old town with our English speaking guide, who will explain to you the history, geography, and importance of this antique city. You will visit points of interest such as Plaza de la Libertad, San Francisco church, Casa de Candelario Obeso (black and dark poetry precursor in Colombia), Plaza de la Concepción, Piedra de Bolívar, Casa de los Ángeles, Basílica menor del Santísimo Cristo, Casa de la Cultura, Portales de la Marquesa, Santa Bárbara church, Casa del te Deum, Plaza de Santo Domingo; Colegio Nacional Pinillos and the municipal cemetery.

Day 4: River Tour through La Cienaga de Pijiño and Guided tour to local Filigree ateliers

Stop At: Centro Historico de Santa Cruz de Mompox, Mompox, Mompos 132560 Colombia
At 08:00 AM, meet with our guide who will take you to a "River Tour" through La Cienaga de Pijiño. Get onboard a boat and appreciate the beautiful scenery of this area, with this excursion you will also get to know about the wide variety of birds and fish species, as well as much more information about the geography of this region.

After finishing this tour and taking lunch, embark again in a new adventure where you will be able to observe and learn how local artisans work the ancient art of filigree.

Day 5: From Mompox to San Basilio de Palenque (walking tour after arrival) and later Cartagena

Stop At: San Basilio De Palenque, San Basilio De Palenque, Bolivar Department
Your day will start at 08:00 AM. Our chauffeur will be picking you up at your hotel front desk, and afterward, he will take you to San Basilio de Palenque. After a 5-hour ride, we will arrive in San Basilio, here, you will take lunch. After finishing, our local guide will welcome you and start to explain the history of this town considered Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO.

After the welcome, you will be taken to a presentation, where youngsters will introduce you to their traditional dances and music. Get to feel the drums sounding at the rhythm of your heartbeat.

After this presentation, you will go to the square, and our guide will explain the life and importance of the Palenque's founder, Benkos Biohó, an African leader who was kidnapped in what today is Guinea-Bissau, by a Portuguese slave trader who later sold him and transported him to Cartagena. Once there, Biohó managed to escape and then he and his people established an intelligence network and army who helped to escape more slaves, to such an extent that the Spaniards offered Biohó a peace treaty in order to stop receiving more slaves in the town.

After finishing the walking tour, our chaffeaur will take you to Cartagena. He will leave you at your hotel doorstep.
