Day 1: Santiago (meeting day + private walking city tour).

Welcome to Santiago, Chile’s capital! Today you’ll be having a short welcome meeting at 4pm at the hotel’s lobby where you’ll get to know your group members and your tour leader. We also be asking for your insurance + next of kin info again (rather to be safe than sorry!). After this, you’ll head out to a wonderful walking tour where you’ll visit some of the most renown places in Santiago like Santa Lucia Hill, Plaza de Armas and La Moneda (Chile’s government house), ending the evening with dinner at Santiago’s Central Market, where you’ll be able to delight with insanely tasty fish & seafood that this looooong country has to offer (and vegetarian/vegan options obviously because we won’t forget about you!).

After making your way through Customs, Immigration and finally getting your luggage, one of our drivers will be waiting for you with a sign with your name right next to GATE 1. Do not, please, DO NOT listen nor pay attention to anyone approaching to you. Santiago’s airport is undergoing major renovations and there are plenty of taxi scammers hunting down tourists, sometimes even taking them to ATMs to steal their money or insanely overcharging them, so again, please do not engage with anyone unless they are ALREADY HOLDING a sign with your name on it.
If you cannot locate our driver, please call to our local office and we’ll be happy to help you out.

Day 2: Santiago - Elqui Valley (Collowara observatory private tour).
Stop At: Valle del Elqui, La Serena, Coquimbo Region
Today we’ll be getting up early because we are traveling to the crown jewel of Astrotourism in Chile, Elqui Valley! Once we arrive to our hotel and finish settling down, we’ll be having dinner and later on, our first astrotour to Collowara Observatory in Andacollo, right in the heart of the first International Dark Skies Sanctuary in the world!

Get a chance to explore this beautiful valley because after dinner we’ll head out to Mamalluca Observatory and look at the night skies with their 12” & 16” telescopes.

We know you might be a bit tired from the day before so take the morning off, get some rest and during the afternoon head out to a private tour to the Moon Valley, a place that really looks to be from out of this world and amaze yourself at the salt caves, la Gran Duna (Great Dune), rock amphitheater and enjoy the sunset at one of the many canyons this desert holds. Afterwards, let’s get back to San Pedro, have dinner and finish the day by visiting a private open sky property where Jorge, the owner, along with his astronomers, will show us the Chilean sky for one last time.

So far so good, huh? Well, today it’s going to start quite early because you’ll have your El Tatio geyser field private tour where you’ll be able to witness and take your pictures at the highest geyser field of the planet! Later on and prior to our flight back to Santiago the next day, you’ll have a free afternoon to explore other beauties that this magnificent desert has to offer like Cejar Lake (basically it’s a miniature Dead Sea where you can float on the water due to the high concentration of minerals), do a little bit of sandboarding at the Death Valley or maybe just discover a few more places in town.

Today is going to be your last full day with your group so let’s make it count! After breakfast you’ll be picked up by your private shuttle service to bring you to Calama airport and then take your flight back to Santiago but that’s not it. After settling down at your hotel and giving some free time if you want to take a shower and/or maybe get everything ready for your flight back home or your next destination, you’ll be attending to a real Chilean barbecue where the manager of our local office will be waiting for you so we all can enjoy this last afternoon (vegetarian/vegan barbecue as well, I told you, we haven’t forgot about you!).
