About this activity

We are going to a unique area close to the city of Santiago, named Cajon del Maipo. This is the place where you can do adventure tourism activities and enjoy the nature and the majestic Andes Mountain range. This unique place at the foot of San José Volcano leads us to the Andes mountain range and to a lookout situated at 2.500 (8.200 ft) meters above sea level. The walk of maximum 2 and a half to 3 hours, will allow us to live the wonder of the mountains and learn more about the geography, geology and the flora and fauna of the area, thanks to our professional guides. From the lookout we will have a breathtaking view of San Jose Volcano and from the closest mountains. The Volcano is considered active due to its last eruption in the 60’s. As soon as we arrive to the lookout we are going to share a delicious sandwich and snacks, while we have a moment for appreciating the Andes and to take some photos, after that we will start our walk back. After finishing the walk, we are going to have a little trip of 25 to 30 minutes in the van to Colina hotsprings, where we are going to find natural pools of thermal water of different temperatures, located like an open terrace thanks to lime deposits. We will enjoy a relaxing and therapeutic bath in this thermal water after an incredible hike of 4K (2.4 miles) at an altitude of 2.500 metres (8.200 ft) above sea level. As soon as we are ready to go, we will share some good chilean wine and appetizers.

Difficulty: Medium. From 12 to 70 years old. It requires a good physical condition, for people without respiratory illnesses like asthma, heart problems, obesity or people who have undergone a surgical operation in the last 6 months. The maximum altitude is 2.500 meters (8.200 ft) above sea level. Difference in latitude of 600 meters (1,900 ft). Previous experience is not required, comfortable clothes adapt for wind and sun plus good trekking shoes are necessary. Tour subject to changes due to climatic conditions like rain or snow.

The scenery view of the mountains was spectacular and the guide was very friendly, considerate and knowledgeable. The Hot spring soak was perfect after the strenuous hiking.

Our tour guide was Francisco and he did a really great job, learned quite a bit of local geology from him! The minivan was big enough to hold all of us comfortably. A nature hike in the valley with unbelievable beautiful landscape. Really enjoyed the hot springs and the surprise wine and cheese treats from Francisco at the end of the trip. We had a great time!

An amazing day with a wonderful guide Francisco and driver Pablo. Would highly recommend this tour. We wore shorts which was fine but make sure you take a warm jacket, a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen as it gets windy. At the hot springs take flip flops to change into as the pathway is slippy. We loved it

We had one day to experience the the best Santiago has to offer and opted for this tour... amazing day! We picked the tour for the hot springs but the hike was equally amazing. The views of the Andes rivalled any hike anywhere. Sebastien (our guide) was extremely knowledgable... a must do!

Brilliant trip, really enjoyed a great tour, definitely recommend. The walk through part of the Andes was very interesting and the Hot Springs good fun. The guide was first class.

Wow what a great trip. My faveoite part was definitely hiking through the Andes mountains. Our guide was friendly and knowledgable and spoke decent english! Only thing I wasn't a fan of was the hot springs. They were kind of gross and could've done without them.
