Maipo Valley, vineyards and rural tour :
Isla de Maipo, a rural town located 80 kilometers from Santiago. Once there, the local guides
will receive you in La Espina del Arte, an art gallery in the middle of an old family house, with
Constanza and Rodrigo, artists who own the place, enjoy a delicious coffee under a centenary
Ceibo tree. Then you will be invited to visit the gallery where other local artists share the space.
After this peaceful reception, you will enter in one of the original buildings of Isla de Maipo, the
Chichería de Los Mesa. Walk among old oak barrels, wrapped in the aroma of local wine, chicha,
and pipeño.
Afterwards, we will visit the house of Don Rolando, who has worked in his garden for many
years. Walk through this orchard between huge avocado trees and small cactus. Everything in
the orchard has a purpose and Don Rolando will teach us why!
Viña La Era, the vineyard we will go then, has been closed since the 70s and is more than 100
years old, that is to say, it is a facility that truly represents the origin of wine in the area. It still
keeps its old machines, pipes, and vines. You will taste three wines in the old cellar.
We will have lunch in a country house and enjoy the local gastronomy in a small farm, with
extensive avocado plantation, and organic garden.
To end this educational day, you will meet a producer artisan, Elizabeth, in her chocolate shop
and Francisco, who is dedicated to the production of honey and bees.
You have already finished this tour through the beautiful valley of the Maipo River, now we are
ready to return to Santiago.
