Meet with your tour conductor at Sapporo station in the morning and head towards Ginsendai, the first of two famous locations for viewing the autumn scenery.

Stop At: Akadake Ginsendai, Sounkyo, Kamikawa-cho, Kamikawa-gun 078-1701 Hokkaido

Ginsendai is located on Mount Aka in the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group, where the largest national park in Japan is situated. Ginsendai is considered the most beautiful location in Hokkaido to view the autumn foliage and is known as a "must-go" travel spot during the end of September to October. You will spend an hour here to appreciate the reds, yellows and greens that carpet the mountain landscape.

Stop At: Daisetsuzan Sounkyo - Kurodake Ropeway, Sounkyo, Kamikawa-cho, Kamikawa-gun 078-1701 Hokkaido

On the way to the next location, Daisetsuzan Sounkyo Kurodake Ropeway station, take the time enjoy the beautiful view of the Sounkyo Gorge from the bus window as you enjoy your lunch. The lunch box is filled with seasonal local ingredients to complement the scenery outside. Please note that due to this being a fixed meal, special dietary requirements are unable to be met.

Upon arrival at Mt. Kurodake, a mountain peak also in the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group, you will experience an incredible ride on the Kurodake Ropeway to the 5th station of the mountain to see the autumn leaves spread out before your eyes. Get off the ropeway and take your time to enjoy the views and walk around the 5th station.

Stop At: Sapporo Station North Square, 3 Chome Kita 7 Jonishi, Kita Ward, Sapporo, Hokkaido 060-0807, Japan

The tour wraps up at Kurodake and you will be picked up by the coach bus and taken back to Sapporo arriving around 7:30 pm.

  • The best time to view autumn leaves varies depending on the weather and temperature of the season. The tour schedule is based on the condition of the autumn leaves in the past years. However, there are some cases where you are not able to enjoy the scenery as in the photo. Please note there will be no refund regardless of the conditions of the autumn leaves.
  • If the conditions of the autumn leaves are poor, visiting times may be shortened. If access is closed, the activity will be skipped.
  • The Kurodake Ropeway may be suspended due to inclement weather. In that case, the tour goes to Daisetsuzan Photograph Museum, Sounkyo where the admission fee will be paid for by the ropeway fee and any difference will be refunded to you.
  • Please wear comfortable clothing and walking shoes especially at Ginsendai where the trail is unpaved and features slopes.
  • Sandals and high heels are not permitted. Please bring a raincoat/warm clothes (umbrellas are not allowed.)
  • A backpack is recommended.
  • Delays or omissions made to the itinerary due to traffic, weather or other circumstances that are beyond the control of the tour operator are not subject to a refund.
  • According to traffic conditions etc, the order of the itinerary may be changed.
  • Ginsendai and Mt. Kurodake may be switched around depending on the tour date.
  • If the tour operator has to cancel the tour because of a typhoon, heavy snow or other circumstances beyond their control, this will be decided by 3pm the day before tour departure; you will be informed by e-mail and suggest a new departure date or receive full refund.
  • This tour is designed with Japanese customers and essentially conducted in Japanese by a Japanese tour conductor. An English-speaking tour conductor or staff will provide you with some basic information during the trip, but they are not responsible for providing any detailed introduction of attractions.
  • The tour end point may be different from the starting point. Please ask a member of staff on the day for details.
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • Infants must sit on laps
  • Most travelers can participate
  • To reach Ginsendai you will need to hike for around 20 minutes from the parking lot.
  • Not recommended for travelers with leg problems as this tour includes a lot of walking.
