Furoshiki Wrapping Class in Sapporo
1. Arrive and meet your instructor at Kimono Kobo MAMEGURA, a kimono studio located 3 minutes walk from Nishisen 6-jo Station on the Sapporo City Tram, or 12 minutes walk from Nishi Juitchome Station on Sapporo Subway Tozai Line. (5 min)
2. Learn about furoshiki from the instructor. (10 min)
3. From wrapping a lunchbox or a plastic bottle with it to folding it into a makeshift handbag; learn various ways of tying and wrapping furoshiki while enjoying the colorful prints on them. (70 min)
4. Enjoy taking many pictures to commemorate the experience before ending the session. (20 min)
You can apply these wrapping techniques to any mid-sized cloth such as scarves, so do try at home. Or you can purchase some pretty furoshiki at Mamegura and bring them back home as souvenirs.
