Stop At: Lake Shikotsu, Chitose Hokkaido

“Lake Shikotsu” is well known for the clarity of its water and was once listed on “the Best Water in Japan” by the Ministry of Environment.

There will be an opportunity to take “Lake Shikotsu Cruise” (optional tour: excludes Nov 5 – Nov 20) and enjoy the scenic beauty from the deck. This is a caldera lake, the remains of a very large volcanic eruption a hundred thousand years ago. The rich nature surrounding the lake provides habitat for many fauna and flora.

Stop At: Toyako Onsen, Toyako-cho, Abuta-gun 049-5721 Hokkaido

Lunch will be served here. It will be Savory Chicken Soup Hot Pot Set: Salmon baked with egg, Japanese mustard spinach tossed with sesame, rolled cabbage and two kinds of vegetables cooked together, young chicken hot pot(with nappa cabbage, crysanthemum leaves, enoki and shimeji mushrooms), sautéed onions and corn egg custard, scallops fried in panko, shishamo smelt fried with seaweed, shishito peppers, potato salad, white rice, clam miso soup, two kinds of cake(subject to change). After lunch it is possible to take a free stroll in the area. Please note no onsen (hot spring)experience is included.

Stop At: Usuzan Ropeway, 184 Showashinzan, Sobetsu-cho, Usu-gun 052-0102 Hokkaido

Mt. Usu is the first mountain area in Japan to be designated as a Global Geopark in August 2009, by Global Geoparks Network supported by UNESCO. There are 58 Global Geoparks in 18 countries and Toya Caldera and Usu Volcano Geopark is recognized as the 59th of these. We will view Mt. Usu from the windows of the ropeway.
