8 days
About this activity
You will meet your tour guide at 6pm in the hotel foyer on Day1. The guide will go over the itinerary and answer your questions. Go out for the first group dinner(the cost is not included). Hokkaido is full of specialties such as fresh seafood, miso ramen, fresh vegetables, lamb bbq and Curry Soup! Curry soup is a spicy curry flavor coup with deep-fried vegetables and meat. The next morning, you will head to the center of the city where the Snow Festival is held. Make sure you are in warm clothes. Over 200 giant snow sculptures are lined up in the Odori park. They are created by professionals and local amateurs including some from abroad. There are many food stands available as well. Enjoy some warm soup or ramen for some snacks! After Sapporo, You will be transferred by trains and bus to Sounkyo. In winter, Sounkyo is one of the coldest parts of Japan along with Asahikawa which is the next destination. Make sure you put on ski type jacket and beanie and ski gloves. Relax in the natural hot spas after the festival which would help you get some good zzz's. Continue your trip to Asahikawa by public bus and train. You will visit a sake brewery this afternoon. Learn about the history of Sake and sip some samples to warm your cold body up. After you get tipsy, enjoy the city's competition for crystal ice sculptures. Next morning, You have some free time and you will head to Otaru by trains. Otaru is such a charming city with a beautiful canal and small shops. Go out to see the Snow Light Paths at night and enjoy its romantic atmosphere. The next morning, you will return to Sapporo for some more sight seeing including a visit to the Mt. Okura observatory and the Sapporo beer brewery. You will learn about the great quality of Sapporo beer and get to 'sample' 2 glasses of beer! Your guide may introduce Hokkaido sweets for souvenirs. The tour will conclude after breakfast the next morning.
