Stop At: Olympic National Park Visitor Center, 3002 Mount Angeles Rd, Port Angeles, WA 98362-6775
If there is any one hike that will etch the magnificence of the Olympic Mountains and the Salish Sea into your memory forever, this is it.
This adventure begins with a 30-minute ferry ride from Colman Dock on Elliott Bay across Puget Sound to Bainbridge Island and then across Hood Canal on the world’s third-longest floating bridge to the Olympic Peninsula.
We ascend 5,000 feet by car to the Hurricane Ridge visitor center and then hike three miles round-trip to Hurricane Hill, with options for additional hiking.
On a clear day, views extend North to the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island and east to Mt. Baker and the North Cascades.
I provide a gourmet lunch and refreshments to enjoy while drinking in the views.
After completing the hike and descending to Port Angeles, you can enjoy an (optional) additional meal or refreshments on the return to Seattle. We will also stop at the Jamestown S’Klallam Native Northwest Expressions art gallery on the way to or from the hike where you will find exquisite examples of Salish and and other Northwest Coast native arts and crafts to admire and perhaps to buy.
