You have to love what you do otherwise it wouldn't be joyful for you and this goes double for the hospitality business. My two tour guides - peyton (olympic national park) and clay (mt rainer) absolutely love what they do and it shows. Kudos for evergreen escapes for finding such talented people. Different food options were exquisite and sourced locally - trail snacks, cookies, coffee and lunch- salad, pasta and chicken w/ local red wine was fulfilling and esp important on the second day after the hike. Day one with peyton was fun - he has a collection of dad jokes, corny jokes and fun family friendly cringe worthy jokes, car games which made the car ride so fun. The tour itself was gorgeous, weather was cooperative - it only rained long enough for us to scramble to put on our rain jackets and it stopped. The hike was mild, lunch delicious, waterfall breathtaking, forest hike tranquil. The group was amazing as well. All in all well worth the time and money though we could have spent longer on the hike - it doesn't take away anything. Day 2 with Clay was comparatively strenuous as the group as a whole decided we wanted a longer and higher hike experience which ended up being a 2.5 hour, 5.5 mile hike with 1250 ft elevation. We had fun deciphering what mushrooms, birds and animals we saw and on the ride back - everyone got a quick shut eye

Loved this trip! Preston Rodriguez was an excellent guide, lots of knowledge and an engaging personality. The day was perfect -- beautiful views, lovely walks, even saw two black bears (very close!), marmots and other critters. Also a very nice group, just 8 of us and all interesting people. Would recommend this company for other tours!

This tour was far better than we could have imagined it would be and absolutely better than trying to plan out our own in a car. Prescott, our guide for the day, was knowledgeable, a great conversationalist, and keep the atmosphere interesting all day long. The various stops along the way for rest breaks, snacks, scenic views and hiking were paced very well. The terrain we covered was from second/third growth forest to old growth forest to waterfalls (with some geological background thrown in) to sub-alpine meadows at almost 7,000'. The variety of locations is important for beginning to understand the geologic, plant, and animal communities around and on Rainier. The food breaks and lunch were excellent and ample. At lunch, Prescott laid out a table cloth with place settings, cold chicken breasts, tofu, black bean and corn salad, kale salad, water, and wine. On the way back to Seattle, there were cookies for a late afternoon snack. We were fortunate to have an exceptionally clear and sunny day, with temperatures in the 70s and clear views of Rainier. We saw a bald eagle, several species of jays, a mother grouse with chicks, chipmunks, a marmot, ravens. It was late July, the wildflowers in the sub-alpine meadows were at their peak. All in all, I would recommend this tour as one not to miss.

We have a small group of 7 people, and the tour in general was nice. However, there were a few people who came to this tour not knowing that they would "walk along the trail" and complained about it. If you are considering this tour, you should visit their website or at least read wherever you booked your tour (it says "guided HIKE"). I was disappointed by these people's behavior. I know the routes will depend on the group but the guide could explain walking/ hike in general before we start to hike. Other than that, our guide Matry was friendly and tried to accommodate things well and get to know each of us. He could have explained more about what we were doing/going since he didn't provide us much information about where we were going. It was good weather and we had a chance to see the top of the mountain clearly in the morning. Breakfast, lunch, and water are included but I just felt it was a bit pricy considering what I experienced.

Seattle Escapes was great to work with when determining pickup times and location. They are most accommodating. Van was comfortable with large windows that allowed us to clearly view the sights as they were pointed out to us. Marty was our guide and he knew enough about the area to give us good information on geology, geography, and plant/animal life. The lunch was OK with vegan options. The weather for our visit was good, and we had plenty of opportunities to see the summit from the trails (which I would rate as flat and easy to moderate inclines for very short distances). Enough of an introduction to make it easier to determine future visit itineraries. We did the Paradise side of the mountain.

This tour is completely awesome and Preston was our awesome tour guide. I went in the Spring, so some of the lakes still had ice and snow covers but we had excellent views of the mountain, many snow melt waterfalls, a good lunch with some local wine, hike some trails, and an excellent pair of guides.

Claire was a fantastic guide - so knowledgeable about our history. Every little detail was well thought out and I appreciated this. Wonderful group of people on this trip. Chris was shadowing Claire as she’s coming back on board and she was delightful as well! Again, so much knowledge was shared and really completed the experience.

Had a wonderful day. Snowshoeing in Jun was a treat. Rainy below, but was able to stay semi-dry with shorter hikes near the road. Guide was great, friendly, and flexible.
