Up The Creek Tour on the Verde

After checking in, you'll be fitted for life vests, finish any necessary paperwork and enjoy a short, scenic ride to the river. During the ride, your driver will point out local sites and overview of the river experience is shared. Once at the riverside, you'll be given a short safety speech and instruction on entering and exiting the boats and paddling technique.

The Verde River itself offers a fun little beginner drop to put your newly acquired skills to the test right out of the practice area. On the first third of the trip, you will be physically challenged and this trip is not recommended for those looking for a gentle float. You will work for it!

In the second third of the paddle, you'll leisurely paddle through some classic riparian terrain with plenty of flora and fauna to see along the way. You'll have lots of opportunity to practice your boat handling skills and an opportunity to swim. Many species of birds, turtles, river otters and other animals are often spotted. At each third, you'll be able to break for restroom break and to reload on water or snacks.

From here, the remainder of the river offers a bit more challenge and excitement. The two class two rapids and a couple of other class one fast parts are all here to offer some thrills without being too intimidating. Kayaks are specifically chosen for this river are very stable and offer lots of control in the rapids. The waves and faster current offer a nice change of pace to end the trip on a high note of beginner friendly fast drops to pump you up for whatever comes next.

Finally, at the take out at Tuzigoot, you will be returned to the starting location or your hotel where they can change, shower, or otherwise prepare for the rest of their day.
