Stop At: Mangkunegaran Palace, Jl. Ronggowarsito No.83, Keprabon, Kec. Banjarsari, Kota Surakarta, Jawa Tengah 57131, Indonesia

Mangkunegaran Palace, built in 1757 in the centre of Solo is still a royal residence. Some rooms are dedicated to a palace museum devoted to the personal collection of Mangkunegara VII. On display are gold-plated dresses for royal dances, a superb mask collection, jewellery and a few oddities, including huge Buddhist rings, a stuffed Javanese leopard and tiger, and gold genital covers.

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Sukuh Temple, Tambak, Berjo, Kec. Ngargoyoso, Kabupaten Karanganyar, Jawa Tengah 57793, Indonesia

Leaving Solo city heading east to Lawu mountain Sukuh Temple is a rare relic from the period of time when the local Hindus embraced influences from Javanese traditions and distanced themselves from more classical Indian art. Erotic art adorns the walls of this 15th-century Javanese-Hindu temple at 900m location above Solo plain

Duration: 2 hours

Stop At: Cetho Temple, Desa Ceto, Kecamatan Jenawi, Karanganyar 57792 Indonesia

Cetho Temple, built in 1350, it closely resembles a Balinese temple in appearance as it rises spectacularly through six tiers of narrow gateways and processional steps. The location is spread over terraces rising up the misty hillside, on the northern face of Gunung Lawu at around 1400m
