About this activity
Meet your coordinator at your preferred location in downtown Seoul (Dongdaemun History and Culture Park, Myeongdong, or Hongik Univ. subway stations). After about one hour, you will arrive at Gwangmyeong Cave. Gwangmyeong Cave was a metalliferous mine for 60 years and a historical site of the Japanese colonial period. It became very popular global tourist attaction and more than 2 million people visit from domestic and foreign countries this cave a year. It has a living museum and a historical site, Cave Aqua World, the music and art hall, and golden waterfall, golden paths and golden palaces. This cave was designated as one of 100 must-go tour places for Koreans in 2017.
Next, we will stop by Gwangmyeong traditional market. Gwangmyeong Market can trace its origins back to the early 1970s as a small five-day market, meaning it opened once every five days. Now with more than 350 stalls and stores, Gwangmyeong Market is the most famous of Gyeonggi-do’s 3 major traditional markets. Through large scale remodeling, the market has become a pleasant and convenient place to shop. People can enjoy various snacks and Korea traditional food such as Tteok-bokki(Stir fried rice), fish cakes, sweet and sour chicken, fried chicken, bindaetteok(green-gram pancake) and Pigs Feet from stores famous for appeared on the eating TV show as well as fresh vegetables, fruits, and fish. You may buy some food here and enjoy them with BBQ later.
For lunch, we will enjoy BBQ picnic at Nanji Hangang Park taking about 30 to 40 mins. from Gwangmyeong city. The fully equipped Nanji Campground opened first in August 2009. The campsite is complete with all the items and facilities needed for camping, such as 24-hour-shower rooms, tents, and BBQ grills. This camping site is open to everyone. The coordinator will help unlimited pork velly(Samgyeopsal) and Korean ramen. You will explore real Korean eating culture there.
The tour will end with return to downtown Seoul. You can get off at your preferred location in downtown Seoul: Hongik Univ. station or Meyongdong subway station or Dongdaemun History and Culture Park subway station.
