Stop At: Odusan Unification Tower, 369, Pilseung-ro, Tanhyeon-myeon, Paju, Gyeonggi-do 10862 South Korea
Odusan Unification Observatory offers views of both the Hangang River and Imjingang River, which starts in North Korea before flowing down and into the Yellow Sea. Opened in 1992, the observatory has seen countless numbers of visitors every year, all hoping for a glimpse of the daily lives of the North Korean citizenry.
The observatory’s first floor houses a planned exhibition hall, while the second floor is devoted to a video room on North Korea. The third and fourth floors are observation decks where you can see the land of North Korea without the use any far-seeing devices. In addition, you can see a variety of migratory birds, including some designated natural monument wildlife. Odusan Unification Observatory takes pride in the beautiful view of the setting sun, where the rays paint the sky in majestic colors.
Sadly, the exhibition hall and video room are under reconstruction until August and therefore closed to visitors. However, the observatory on 3-4F is still open for visitors to enjoy.
Duration: 50 minutes
Stop At: DMZ, Munsan-eup, Majeong-ri Imjingak Tourist information center, Paju, Gyeonggi-do South Korea
After pickup at your Seoul hotel in the morning or afternoon, drive to the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ). En route, your guide shares expert commentary on the dividing line between North and South Korea.
Get out at Imjingak Park along the banks of Imjin River to see artillery and war artifacts that were used during the Korean conflict before proceeding to Freedom bridge, where nearly 13,000 Korean POWs crossed on their return back home to South Korea.
Reboard the coach and head to the 3rd Infiltration Tunnel, located beneath the border of North Korea and South Korea. See where the South Koreans have blocked the actual Military Demarcation Line with concrete barricades, and browse photographs and war artifacts at the DMZ exhibition hall.
Your next stop is Dora Observatory, where you can use binoculars to get a glimpse of North Korea. Listen to your guide explain daily life in the village of Kijongdong across the river.
Continue by coach to Dorasan Station, a historic spot that not only marks the division, but also serves as a gateway for exchanges between the north and south. Pass by the Unification Village, a small farming community that specialized in creating soybean milk, traditional soy sauce and corn goods.
Duration: 7 hours
