Yura was a wonderful tour guide. She was very knowledgeable, managed our time very well especially with a group of 40+, and provided great direction to maximize the experience and everything there was to offer. Thanks Yura:)

The place is crowded with tourists but I'd still highly recommend it. Best daytrip of all trips. No shopping!

This is probably the cheapest DMZ tour there is on Viator (Not to be confused with the Joint Security Area). You'll be able to see North Korea, but that is pretty much it. The North Korean flag and the fake village are the "highlight" of the Dora Observatory. The 3rd tunnel (where the DMZ letters are), was extremely boring. You go down a relatively steep slope only to peer through 1 of the 3 barriers and that's all. I was thoroughly dissappointed and regretted going for the tour. The tour company and guide were decent though. English was rather clear. Definitely not worth the time or money unless you just wanna brag that you've seen North Korea. I booked for the tour 2 days ahead through Viator at a very reasonable price. The pick up was arranged very quickly. Our tour guide was "Yura" and since we were the last to be picked up from the group (group of 40 or so), she started overviewing the tour on our way to Imjingak. While all the overview was informative, I wish she waited to explain about the places right before we reach the place instead of explaining everything at the beginning. The rest of the tour was designed as "you spend X time at Y before you come back to the bus". Overall I felt the tour was designed very compact and efficient, thus "Korean" style, while not so entertaining and engaging.

With this tour, you get to see the most relevant sites of DMZ. Our tour guide, Ms Yura explained the historical background and gave us all relevant information about the zone. We enjoyed seeing the derailed train, the wire fences with colorful ribbons of messages to North Korean people, the observatory, and of course the tunnel. Choosing this tour is an efficient way to experience DMZ. As this is a half-day tour including travelling, dont expect to spend hours at every sight. This was no problem for us. The bus was comfortable and you can get off at one of two central locations when getting back to Seoul.

Picked up from Hotel at 7:15am and spent next hour and half driving round Seoul picking up passengers. There were 2 tours on our bus (an english tour and Japanese tour) which made life interesting as each guide had to wait for the other to finish before the other started. As has been stated in other reviews everything seemed to be rushed. 20mins here 30mins there. Overall impression is one of a tourist honeypot. We wanted to do the full day tour but this has been cancelled until further notice due to the US/North Korea negotiations - you can just see this area in the distance through a telescope from the Dora Observatory. If you want to tick a box that you've seen North Korea through a telescope then go for it otherwise there are lots more interesting things to do. Go to the War Museum in Seoul (free entry) - it is massive and will tell you everything about the war in a lot more detail.

1 This particular tour had no preparations for rainy weather. We were hurriedly whisked into the bus, left to fend for ourselves to buy raincoats and umbrellas, then went on an peek-and-run to the observatory and the DMZ exhibit hall. The tunnel had so much history, but no narratives from the guide. She was only concerned about the exact time we had to be back in the bus. 2 I could hear other tour guides explaining the relevance of these sites rains notwithstanding, but our group had no time to absorb the great history of the Korean people. Time was spent whisking us from one place to another, as if there was no tomorrow in sight.

This tour was fantastic - very informative and engaging. We did not spend too long at each location and the tour guide was able to provide us with some interesting facts at each location. What's also great is that we were picked up by the coach and dropped off at a convenient location at the end of the tour. This was a well-organised tour. Would highly recommend this if you only want a half day tour at the DMZ.
