Seoul City Sightseeing by Bike and Foot

1 day
About this activity
In the morning, meet your guide and small group at Seoul’s Hongdae subway station, where you’ll hop on your bike and start riding toward Gyeongbokgung Palace, commonly referred to as the Northern Palace. En route, pass Hongdae Street and well-known city attractions including Deoksu Palace and Seoul City Hall.
Make your first stop at the Seoul Museum of History for a look at some educational exhibits with your guide. Learn about the Joseon Dynasty (1392–1905), Korea’s last empire before Japanese colonial rule, and discover elements of modern urbanization in Seoul after it became the capital of South Korea.
Then it's on to Gyeongbokgung Palace for a 1-hour tour. Built in 1395, this royal palace showcases traditional architectural elements from the Joseon Dynasty. See first-hand why Gyeongbokgung is a standout among Seoul's Five Grand Palaces.
Fuel up with provided snacks and a sports drink, and stop along the way for coffee. Around midday, relax at a local restaurant and choose from a selection of traditional Korean dishes for lunch.
Back on your bike, pedal to Insadong and Dongdaemun, two traditional street markets where you'll have free time to check out the abundant handicrafts, antiques, knickknacks, textiles, clothes and other treasures.
Pass through the Itaewon district and continue into Hangang Park, following a bike path along the Han River. End your tour at the Hongdae subway station after a total distance of 19 miles (32 km). Total ride time is two hours; the other five hours are by foot.

I highly recommend this tour. This is a very unique way to see Seoul. The day offers a mix of bike time, walking time, rest time, eating time, and sightseeing time. Our guide, Max, went out of his way to insure we were safe, had good insights into what we were seeing and where we were going, and the lunch was fantastic. This is far better than being on a bus or in a car!

Great tour! Great guide! I enjoyed the exercise from the biking and getting to see things like the palace. If you don't speak Korean, this is worth it just to have a local helping you order lunch and telling you things you would probably otherwise miss.

Our guide, Max, was very accommodating and really cool. He gave us a lot of history throughout the tour and we really enjoyed his company. The bike tour was challenging, as you ride through the busy sidewalks throughout Seoul, so be on alert, but it was fun!! Highly recommend!!! Have fun!
