Get picked up from your hotel and arrive at the Seavey Family Homestead and home of the IdidaRide Kennel. Listen to a brief overview of dog mushing before heading to the dog lot where a chorus of happy howls from more than 90 dogs greet you. Knowledgeable guides are on hand to answer questions and explain how the canine athletes are trained.
Watch the handlers harness your dog team and hop on the sled to start your tour through the wilderness. Stop for pictures and enjoy the sights and sounds of your team as you move through the woods.
Back at the kennel, stop to greet the puppies. Hold and pet the little huskies, feel free to take pictures. Continue on to the Seavey Workshop where you can handle and hold actual Iditarod supplies. Watch your guide demonstrate how to harness a booty, and get insight into the training and race strategy of the dogs.
Walk along the kennel path and say a final goodbye to your team. Your driver will be waiting for you at the entrance to take you back to town.
