A layover tour: Essential Shanghai attractions and Zhouzhuang from Shanghai

Stop At: Zhouzhuang Water Town, Qing Ping Shanghai Highway, Kunshan 215300 China

We will go to Longyang Road by maglev train.

From Longyang Road, you will transfer to Zhouzhuang, a famous water town known for its profound cultural background, well-preserved ancient residential houses, and elegant watery views. It was built between canals, ponds, and lakes. There are many old buildings and bridges, boat rides, and crafts, framed by the quaint water town scenery.

You will be guided around the Double Bridges of Shide Bridge and Yong’an Bridge, Shenting House, Zhangting House, and other beautiful sights.

The Double Bridges of Shide Bridge and Yong’an Bridge are the most famous bridges in the town, and are considered the symbol of Zhouzhuang. The Double Bridges are located in the northeast part of the town. Shide Bridge has a round arch, while Yong’an Bridge has a square arch, and they look like an old-style Chinese key.

After the trip to Zhouzhuang, we will return to Shanghai and visit Shanghai Old Street.

Walking into Shanghai Old Street, you seem to be back in the bustling market of Shanghai 100 years ago. Here is the original important place in Shanghai for foreign and small commodity trading, which witnessed the economic and social development of Shanghai. It is home to some of the most ancient structures in Shanghai, including small portions of the old city wall. The former French Concession and Yu Garden are also nearby.

Stop At: Huangpu River, Headstreams from Dianshan Lake, Zhujiajiao Town, Qingpu District, Shanghai 201700 China

The Huangpu River divides two iconic but different Shanghai sights: high modern buildings in the Pudong area, and 26 various buildings of different architectural styles on the west side. At nightfall, you will take a one-hour cruise along the Huangpu River to enjoy the light show and beautiful night scenery on both sides of the river including the Bund, the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, and Jin Mao Tower.
