Beijing Highlights Day Trip from Shanghai including Temple of Heaven, Forbidden City, and Hutongs

Meet your driver at 5:30 am at the lobby of your hotel in Shanghai city center and be transferred to the Shanghai airport, where you will catch a flight to Beijing. Once you arrive to Beijing Airport, your local guide/driver will be waiting for you and will transport you by private, air-conditioned vehicle to begin your full-day tour of China’s capital city.
Your sightseeing tour of the Beijing city area begins at the Temple of Heaven, the largest ancient imperial worship-architecture-group in the world, where the ancient Ming and Qing dynasties Emperors prayed for peace and harvest. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is surrounded by a beautiful park where you might see local people practicing martial arts and singing.
After enjoying a traditional Chinese cuisine lunch, you will visit Tiananmen Square, framed by the Gate of Heavenly Peace with its portrait of Mao Zedong, Mao's Mausoleum, the Great Hall of the People and the National Museum. Hear an overview from your guide about China's communist history as you explore Tiananmen's grounds, halls and monuments.
From here, enjoy a short walk to the Forbidden City and its Imperial Palace Museum, with a peek at each Chinese dynasty represented in four palatial halls.
