Private: One-Day Xitang Water Town Tour from Shanghai

Our tour guide and driver will meet you at the lobby of your hotel or an agreed place at around 8:30. It takes around 2 hours to transfer you from Shanghai to the west entrance of Xitang.

Your first activity is a 15 minutes’ sculling boat ride. You will disembark the boat at the port of Laifeng Bridge, an auspicious bridge in Xitang. New couples walk through the bridge to pray for good marriage.

The Laifeng Bridge is adjacent to the Yanyu Corridor, located beside a river in Xitang. You will get even closer to the river while passing through the 1000-meter-long (3281 feet) corridor. During a rainy day, it is a great feeling to admire tender rain in the corridor. You will reach a Wood Carving Museum after passing through the corridor. Most of the 250 carvings in the museum have a history of over 200 years. They were all popular domestic decorations in ancient times. Your tour guide will find you a local restaurant for lunch after admiring the artworks in the museum. Feel free to tell your tour guide if you have any requirements. Restart your tour in Ni House and Shipi Lane in the afternoon. They are respectively the classic house and small lane in Xitang. The Ni House was owned by a rich merchant in Xitang. The decoration in the house is very exquisite. The Shipi Lane is paved by flimsy flagstones due to the drainage system under these flagstones, there is never surface water on the road. And then you will visit a Tile museum, a home to over 300 pieces of ancient tiles. The carvings on the tiles include animals, plants, clouds and traditional Chinese characters.

Your last stop in Xitang is the China Button Museum. Have you ever seen a button made from sea shell? Check it out! At 16:00, you will be transferred back to Shanghai.
