Fortresses of Sibenik - Private Heritage Tour

You will meet your local guide first at Barone Fortress, from where you can have a complete view on fortification system of the Šibenik old town. Meeting hours will be determined after booking confirmation. At Barone Fortress, with a panoramic view on the whole bay and islands, you'll learn about the history of two fortresses: Barone and St John, and their construction in 17th century. You will continue your tour downhill, to the main square of the city center (Poljana square) from where you'll have a chance to see remains of defensive fortification walls. The walk continues through main street Kalelarga up to final destination - St. Micahel's Fortress, the oldest fortress and the nucleus of the old town. This tour is specialized to learn about fortresses as the recognizable symbols of the town of Šibenik and their cultural, historical and architectural significance for the town itself and for its citizens through out the centuries. Suggested meeting hour is afternoon, in order to finish the tour on the roof of the old town - on St Michael's Fortress - with the sunset.
