About this activity

Dedicated to wine and landscapes lovers, this tour takes you in the heart of the medieval age. Siena and its Piazza del Campo where the Palio is held. Then San Gimignano, the town with powerful towers and famous white wine Vernaccia.

We start from the center of Florence in a luxury van, crossing the astonishing countryside of Chianti, where the famous wine and extra virgin olive oil come from. Rolling hills, ancient hamlets, castles and vineyards will accompany your pleasant journey to Siena, the pearl of the Tuscan countryside, still rich of history which shows how life was going on in the middle ages.

This tour will make you discover the town that had been fighting against Florence for centuries and where people are still keeping tradition absolutely alive; the town of the Palio, most ancient road horse race of the world and hometown of many artists such as Simone Martini or Ambrogio and Pietro Lorenzetti, etc etc…

You will be walking along the main road which coincides with “The Francigena’s route”, the one where pilgrims took a rest on the way to Rome for thousands of years; soon after you will reach the magnificent Piazza del Campo, one of the most beautiful squares in the world, where you will enjoy a delicious Tuscan lunch. Some free time to eat and do some shopping before getting on the van heading to the marvelous San Gimignano, where you will be catapulted into middle ages walking along narrow stone walled roads surrounded by astonishing powerful towers.

San Gimignano is also the place where the excellent white wine “Vernaccia” is produced and ages as a top red one; you can taste it in front of a breathtaking view on the Tuscan countryside! Before leaving you will have the chance of tasting the gelato which won the prestigious prize on the Ice Cream World Championship!
