Little India Morning Food Tour

Meet up with your guide at the Little India Arcade. You will receive a brief rundown of the tour and what you will be doing and most importantly how much you will be eating. We will begin by walking through the arcade where small local businesses are setting up for the day, we will stop by an Indian sweet shop and try some delicacies as we explore the atmospheric alleyways.
We'll visit one of Singapore's favorite vegetarian stops and enjoy the chefs specialty breakfast dish. This is a favorite for our vegetarian guests. Following our breakfast we'll have a stroll along Serangoon road. This is the main thoroughfare of Little India and is full of jewellery shops and fabric emporiums. We'll take a seat at a local coffee shop and watch one of the area's oldest chefs in action before we taste his freshly made chapatis with a selection of dips.
A quick walk across the road takes us to the local Hindu temple. We'll see how food and religion mix as well as having the chance to walk around the colorful building and watch locals going about their daily worshiping. We then explore the back streets of Little India on our way to the next food stop. This is a good time to learn about the local history and how the area has gone from farmland to one of the most inhabited parts of the city.
We then enjoy some freshly prepared snacks along the Arts belt before having a short walk to the Tekka market. Our first stop in this bustling market is the hawker center as we try some local Chinese dishes. It's important to realise that Little India has a thriving Chinese community as well. Carrot cake, hokkien mee and steamed cakes are all on offer.
Your food expert will guide you through the labyrinth of the Tekka center wet market. Known as one of the busiest markets in the country we'll point out different ingredients and explain their use in Singaporean cuisine. Its common to bump into local chefs here buying their daily supplies. We'll point out where they shop and what to look for when hunting for bargains.
The tour comes to its last stop back at the hawker centre where we'll eat for the last time. Fish curry, murtabak and the famous Briyani are all on the menu. Don't worry, we can pack some things away for you to enjoy later in the day.
Your guide will then help you get to local transport links, order a taxi or give you some tips to further explore the area in your own time.
