Private Tour: Harbor Mountain Drive and Hike

Let a private driver transport you over 2,000 feet (600 meters) up Harbor Mountain, where you will see views that are awe inspiring! On a clear day, you will be able to see Sitka Sound, Kruzof Island with its dormant volcano, Mt. Edgecumbe, and much of Baranof Island. Local Sitkans hike, run and drive up this mountain for the incredible views. The road up this mountain was created during World Ware II by Army Engineers. It was important to have this elevated sight to watch for potential Japanese invaders. With vantage points like this, it's no surprise that Alaska was thought of as the first line of defense for the Lower 48.

This 3-hour trip will also include some moderate hiking on a boardwalk trail between spruce and hemlock trees and some mountaintop picnic snacks among the clouds. In the summer months, you can forage for an abundance of wild blueberries, along with other seasonal berries.
