Your glacier adventure starts from the Arctic Adventures Booking Hut in Skaftafell. From the stunning national park of Skaftafell, accompanied by your certified glacier guide, you will head towards the moving glacier of one of Vatnajokull's outlet glaciers for a short glacier walk. Surrounded by stunning scenery all around, you will be humbled by the beauty and power that mother nature has provided us with. Explore all that this magnificent glacier has to offer before returning back to Skaftafell where your tour ends. This 4 hour glacier adventure tour is suitable for the whole family and ideal for everyone who is looking for a short, but different kind of an adventure. After your certified glacier guide has provided you with crampons, helmets and ice axes at the booking hut in Skaftafell, he will be taking you on a short bus ride from the park, to the glacier which is located in a stunning valley surrounded by impressive mountains.
An easy introductory walk through the glacier valley will take you to the glacier tongue, where we will finally set on to the ice. Your guide will then safely lead you around the big crevasses and glacier mills and explain all about the formation of the moving glacier, as well as different characteristics of Icelandic glaciers.

This tour departs from Arctic Adventures Booking Hut in Skaftafell (gray house with the turf roof). Skaftafell is located 327km (203 miles) from Reykjavík. The nearest towns to Skaftafell are Kirkjubæjarklaustur, 69km to the west and Höfn, 130km to the east.
Minimum age of 8, and minimum shoe size of EUR 35.
Iceland is known for colorful weather. It can sometimes show you all 4 seasons in one day. Dressing for this sort of weather can be a challenge so we always recommend to dress in layers.
You will need sturdy hiking boots that fit crampons for the glacier hike. If you do not own a pair then we rent out good hiking boots as well as a waterproof clothing at our hut in Skaftafell for a small fee.
