About this activity
The tour begins in Kirkjubæklaustur, a southern town often nicknamed Klaustur by locals. It is located in the South Coast of Iceland between the village of Vík Í Mýdral and the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon, and is steeped in religious heritage.

Your first destination is the little-known Fagrifoss waterfall, nestled deep in the mountains. The name of the waterfall means literally Beautiful Fall. You will stop to admire its scale and picturesque beauty, as well as its dramatic, verdant surroundings.

Your guide will then escort you above Fjaðrárgjlúfur Canyon, often referred to as the most beautiful one in the world. It is a marked trail downhill by the side of the edge of the canyon and during a roughly thirty-five-minute hike you will marvel over its sheer walls and the azure waters running below. You need not repeat your trail when you come to the canyon end, as your Super Jeep will be waiting for you at its base.

You will then continue your tour, admiring the marvelous surrounding nature on the cusp of the Southern Highlands, to Landbrotshólar. This is a huge area with thousands of specially formed volcanic craters called pseudo-craters, and such features are incredibly rare around the world; they are much more common, unusually, on the planet Mars. You will have the chance to enter one of the craters and to explore the lava, as your guide tells you all about their geological history.

Finally, you will return to the super jeep and be dropped off at your original pick up place.
