As you float down the gentle Taiya River, your naturalist guide will point out native wildlife. Sightings of bald eagles are common and you may even spot bears at certain times of year. Booked this trip for a group of four while we were on an Alaskan cruise on the Ruby Princess. Could not have asked for a better excursion! Communication with the local operator before the event was easy and smooth. Finding where to meet was SIMPLE. Enjoyed a local narration of the town and gold rush history from "Bob". Getting to the launch point was picturesque. As a person who is newer to river rafting, I appreciated the safety level take with all participants. Life vests AND boots were provided. The river narration and sights were beautiful. We were lucky to watch an eagle hunt for salmon 50 feet away from us! I never felt rushed and Bo has complete command of the raft! Snacks and conversation at the end. This is a fun way to get away past the stores selling t-shirts and get to see some of the beauty of Alaska. Everyone in our group had an AMAZING time! Delivery occurred right back to our cruise ship docking area; who could ask for more?!
This was our first time using Viator but it won’t be our last. Island Joe, our guide, was great. We had our 5-year-old granddaughter along and felt she was perfectly safe. He was knowledgeable and so very friendly and accommodating. The pace was just right for us.

This tour was amazing!
This was our most favorite tour on our Alaska cruise. Was able to get my elderly mother on the raft along with my kids. All 9 of us took this slow gentle river ride, we saw 2 bald eagles on the tree where their nest was, another one was further up the river. This was as scenic as I imagined. A very worthwhile excursion. I highly recommend this one.
