About this activity

Begin your day with pickup from your hotel or the cruise port at 9am by your private driver. Depart from Sorrento and drive along the Amalfi coastal road. The scenery is superb, looking out over the Mediterranean and along the coastline as the road twists and turns its way toward the town of Positano (approximately 20 minutes from Sorrento). The town is built on different levels from the main road all the way down to sea level, giving the image of a waterfall of buildings cascading down to the sea.

Next, head to Amalfi, where you can can explore independently for approximately 2 hours. If you choose, visit the magnificent 9th century Cathedral which proudly dominates the main square of Amalfi. Then wander through the narrow streets of the town and browse the many shops, or simply enjoy a coffee in one of the cafes around Amalfi.

Then make your way to Ravello, situated on the hillside above Amalfi. This is where Wagner was inspired to write part of one of his operas and it is from here that you can enjoy the best views of the Amalfi coastline looking over to Minori, Maiori and beyond. This quaint little town has a main square where the centerpiece is the bright picturesque 11th century cathedral. You might also visit the Villa Rufolo with its gardens and wonderful views.

The tour will end at approximately 5pm with drop-off at your hotel or the cruise port.

Our group of five had a wonderful time on this private tour of the Amalfi Coast. Our driver, Rafael, was a very friendly and informative guide and made us feel safe and comfortable for our journey. Don't let the long day in the car discourage you. The views are amazing, the towns are quaint and charming, and you can plan the day to your own liking, Rafael recommended a boat ride in Amalfi, which gave us a whole new perspective of the beauty of the coast line. He also recommended a hillside restaurant with a beautiful view of Ravello and very good food. We were very satisfied with this tour and would highly recommend it.

This trip was wonderful. We had a charming driver who negotiated the windy roads and crazy drivers and made us feel safe at all times. We had enough time at each stop to enjoy the atmosphere of each town and have some retail therapy. He then took us to a beautiful restaurant. Highly recommended.
