Private Tour: Pompeii and Naples from Sorrento

One of our English speaking drivers will meet you at your accommodation in Sorrento. 
This day tour will begin with a drive by the famous Sorrento coast, where across the bay you will be able to see Mt. Vesuvius, the volcano responsible for one of the most well known historical events in this region. After about a 1 hour drive, we will arrive in the famous city of Naples. 
The first stop in this historical day tour will be the Naples National Archaeological Museum. Located in Piazza Museo, it is the most important Italian archaeological museum which contains artifacts from the areas of Herculaneum, Pompeii and Stabiae. Also considered one of the most important museums in the world, it is home to a large collection of high quality Roman artifacts from the Greek, Roman and Renaissance periods. Collections include antiquities of marbles, bronzes, mosaics, as well as the Egyptian collection and the Secret Cabinet. 
The 2 hours spent here will undoubtedly leave you with an even greater appreciation for the ancient ways of life in this area. 
Your time in Naples does not end there though, as your driver will be happy to suggest a location where you can savor the authentic taste of a Napoletano pizza or another culinary experience of your preference. 
Following lunch, you will be taken on a driving tour of the city of Naples, during which time your driver will share a wealth of information about this famous city from inside the vehicle. 
After this, we will drive to the ancient ruins of Pompeii. You will have about 2 hours to explore this UNESCO World Heritage site, one of the most important archeological sites in the world. You can visit the site on your own or a licensed guide can be arranged ahead of time (additional cost). However you choose to explore this ancient site, you will be in awe as you see the remnants of this 1st century city which offer some insight into the Roman life that came to a premature stop here on 24 August A.D. 79.
You will then meet back up with your driver outside of the ruins and drive back to your accommodation in Sorrento.
