About this activity
Start your tour of Dubrovnik with a visit to the promenade in Stradun for your first impression of one of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful cities and its astonishing stone walls that extend over 1,940 meters (6,500 feet).
Admire the monumental fortifications and city gates, before wandering the labyrinthine streets behind the ramparts. Almost entirely pedestrianized, the medieval town is a treasure trove of architectural gems. See columned porticoes and loggias fringing Renaissance squares of marble. Marvel at the 11th-century Town Hall, and go to Sponza Palace, notable for its elaborate stone carvings.
Take in views of the Baroque Cathedral, and see the magnificent Treasury. Continue to the fortress-like Dominican Monastery and Baroque Church of St Blaise. Visit the Rector’s Palace of the glorious Republic of Dubrovnik, and marvel at its harmonious blend of Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture.
You will then have 3 hours free for lunch and some shopping. Taste delicious Mediterranean specialties at the taverns of the Old City, ending with a coffee in Stradun, and buy some of the traditional filigree jewelry, or a bronze statuette of St. Blaise to remind you of your day in Dubrovnik, before the return transfer to Split.
